What is chiropractic care?

Chiropractic care is a drug free approach to assist in normalizing spinal joint function and movement where spinal joints may feel achy or stiff. It also can encompass other joints in the body such as shoulders, wrists, knees and ankles for instance. There is a normal "joint play" present in joints and when they get restricted due to slight misalignments or soft tissues tightening around them, this joint play may get lost, leading to restrictions that may be felt as tightness and possibly pain.

What does a chiropractor do?

Chiropractors assist in restoring normal joint function and motion and alignment through adjustments. Adjustments can be very gentle and performed through hands on adjusting or instrument assisted to help restore the normal joint motion / movement and/or alignment.

Are chiropractors useful?

Chiropractors and chiropractic treatment can be very useful for those that are desiring a drug free approach to mild to moderate and often severe joint pain. This approach can be effective in allowing healing and normalization to occur in joints that may alleviate pain naturally.

How many chiropractic sessions do you need?

The number of sessions is often determined by how severe the condition is and how long it has been present. Many times, the more chronic a condition is, the more time may be needed to help the body retrain and / or restore a more normal function in the area. It is not uncommon to start with 3-4 weeks of care to see if progress is occurring. Often, some results are achieved within that time frame and if not, possible referrals are made if it is deemed necessary for other types of treatment and/or diagnostics to determine the best course of treatment.

Why should you choose your office?

There are many great chiropractors in Tulsa. Our approach involves incorporating a fair amount of soft tissue/muscle stretching and rehab that supports the spine. This can be helpful if there is a lot of tension and/or muscle tightness and spasm associated with the neck or back pain. We tailor each treatment specifically to the needs of each client with both hands on adjusting as well as gentle instrument assisted adjusting.

What does a chiropractor treat?

It is most common for patients to seek out chiropractic care for neck pain, mid and lower back pain, headaches, buttock or hip pain, numbness in the hands or down the leg, whiplash from auto accidents, etc.

How does a chiropractor help lower back pain?

A chiropractor can help with lower back pain through treatment aimed at restoring normal joint motion and movement that may be lost in cases of back pain. The treatment usually consists of adjustments to the spine to help with restoring proper joint motion and alignment. As the motion and normal function of the joint is restored, many times the pain will subside as well. In addition, a chiropractor may help with aiding the supporting soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia) to have a more normal tone that is supporting the spine.

How does a chiropractor help neck pain?

A lot of neck pain can be traced to tight muscles that support the neck and head that lead into the shoulders and midback. As tension builds up here, it can pull on the spine and assist in creating restrictions of the neck vertebra which can lead to pain. Many times, the chiropractor will stretching the shoulder and neck muscles gently along with some gentle trigger point work to help loosen up the supporting muscles. In addition, gentle adjustments will be made to the joints in the neck that will aid in allowing a more normal joint motion and alignment which can assist and help in the removal of neck pain.

Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?

Most of the time, there is some immediate improvement/relief/feeling of improved freedom after the visit. We take special care in being very gentle to ensure that treatments are comfortable for each patient. Due to the nature of remodeling the supporting tissues and stretching/rehab that may be provided, sometimes there can be a slight soreness later much like going to the gym or taking a yoga class. This will usually subside fairly quickly.

Are all patients adjusted the same way?

No. Our approach to patient care is patient centric, meaning, our treatment is tailored specifically to the unique needs of each patient.

Will I be required to remove my clothing at my appointment?

No. You will remain fully clothed during all treatment.
